Tuesday, February 12, 2008 Belgium Netherlands Rotterdam Petain Maginot Line Belgium and the Netherlands declare that they are neutral Did not allow Brits and French to use them in defensive planning Belgium 600,000 men, Dutch 400,000 Small armies that were not properly equipped Biggest mistake was that they never allied themselves with anyone May 10 th - Blitzkrieg attack o German planes destroy Belgium planes and communication lines Roads are completely filled by refugees o Germans see this and bomb the refugees The Belgium fortresses fell easily to paratroopers Netherlands flooding plans did not work May 10 th new British PM By May 14 th its all over , Netherlands overwhelmed May 27 th - Belgium is defeated Rotterdam, Belgium- before the germans attack thet demanded tat if the Netherlands did not surrender then on of the major cities would be destroyed(terrorism) o Rotterdam bombed even before agreement **FINAL EXAM- COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE WAR PLANS OF
