He says he is going to prove he is notmad by explaining every step of the process. He could never predict what was about to happennext. There was no motive to kill the old man because he loved him. The narrator loved the oldman but he had the vulture's eye. He hated his blue eye color and it made him sick when hesaw it. The character decided to kill him. People assume that the main character is mad butsince he is so precise and careful he believes he is sane. Every night he opened the old man'sdoor and stalked him. Every morning he woke up, the narrator asked him about his day to gethim to keep trusting the narrator. On the eight night he feels there is something special aboutthat night. He thought the old man had heard him but he knew the old man couldn't see him.
