Sarah Ohlinger Dr. Sebelia NFS 394 22 September 2008 Obama vs. McCain Health Care Plan Millions of Americans are uninsured or underinsured because of rising medical costs. 46 Million Americans- including over 8 million children- lack health insurance, with no sign of hope. Health insurance programs have risen 4 times faster than wages over the past 6 years. As we’ve learned in class, too little of the federal dollar is spent on prevention and public health. If we could just reach out to the underprivileged and provide them with the proper knowledge and health care, not only would the health care crisis diminish, but so would rising taxes. In November, a new president will provide us with a new health care plan- whether it work or not is another question. Both Obama and McCain have very different approaches to tackling this problem. However, they do have one common goal: To improve health care systems across the United States. According to Barack Obama, he pledges for “Quality, affordable and portable
