Sarah Ohlinger Professor Koness NFS 443 Lab 3 November 2009 Lab #7: Determining Chronic Disease Risk 1) BP = 140/92 = High (Hypertension Stage I) Stage I Hypertension BP Between: SBP: 140-159/ DBP: 90-99 Total Cholesterol = 230mg/dL (Borderline High) Borderline High Between 200-239 mg/dL LDL = 135mg/dL (Borderline High) Borderline High Between 130-159 mg/dL HDL = 35 mg/dL (Low) Low = <40 TG = 300mg/dL (High) High = 200-499 Fasting Glucose =115mg/dL (High- Impaired/Prediabetes) Normal = Up to 100mg/dL 2) BMI = 31 (Obesity Grade I) IBW = 120lbs %IBW = 150% With a BMI of 31 and a waist circumference of 34in, this places PD in the high risk category according to the NIH guidelines Weight loss is appropriate for PD. An appropriate weight loss goal would be approximately 10% from baseline at a rate of about 1-2lbs/week over a period of 6 months. According to the NIH guidelines PD falls into 6 of the risk categories: She has high LDL, low HDL, high fasting glucose, high serum triglycerides, history of no regular exercise and a family history of diabetes and obesity 3) 10 Year Risk for Coronary Heart Disease = 1% Risk (11 Points)
