10-12-09 Euthanasia Article written in the 1920s by a philosopher that was widely read in Europe that said that if a person had serious mental illnesses and serious diabilties then their quality of life was sufficient for them to continue to live o The article was read but no one paid attention to it until the nazi’s took it into consideration and the first people to be killed were people with diabilities The Netherlands was the debate of medical euthanasia that was contriversy there In 1973 an elderly woman who was quite ill, blind and nearly deaf told her daughter who a physician that she wanted to end her life, she did not want to continue to suffer from her disabilities and quality of life o Back then it was against the law to kill anyone even at their request o Her daughter killed her mother and she was arrested and charged for murder o The court said that this was not what they considered homicide o This was a case of medical euthanasia (Gr. Good death) o The dutch court that heard the case said that technically it was against the law but it
