Unformatted text preview: Microeconomic Theory I Economics 204A ‘ MM ”130‘7‘3:30PM 17330 —> 1:30 pm Professor Phillip McCalman Office: 447 E2 Phone: 459 43 81 Email: [email protected] The first quarter of the Ph.D. microeconomics sequence, this course covers the classical topics of individual choice by households and firms and competitive equilibrium, as well as an introduction to the theory of choice under uncertainty. There will a number of problem sets, a midterm and a three hour final exam. The primary text is Microeconomic Analysis, Third Edition by Hal Varian (Norton, 1992). All students should have access to the secondary text Microeconomic Theory by Mas-Colell, Whinston and Green (Oxford University Press, 1995, denoted MWG below). Course Outline 1.
