Number the global degrees of freedom (dofs) or, equivalently, the equilibrium equations
without including trivial equations with a single unknown basic force whose value can
therefore be determined by inspection. How many basic forces and equations are there?

Set up the equilibrium equations in terms of the primary element forces

Select two basic forces as redundants; in this problem we select the end moment at the right
end of element b and the end moment at the lower end of element c.

Determine the particular solution under the given loading, and the homogeneous solutions
