(b-a).*rand(m,n) + a creates an m x n matrix of decimals on the interval [a,b]. ceil(y.*rand(m,n)) creates an m x n matrix of integers on the interval [1,y] ceil((y-x+1).*rand(m,n))+(x-1) creates an m x n matrix of integers on the interval [x,y]
