Description Earth & Environmental Science is the study of the Earth in the universe and the interactions among Earth’s systems, structures, and processes, including the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. The course will focus on the origin and evolution of the earth and solar system, matter, energy, plate tectonics, environmental awareness, materials availability, and the cycles that circulate energy and material through the earth system. Expectations and Goals Our goal is to support and nurture our students to grow as independent learners through developing the following learning traits: curiosity, self-motivation, accountability, critical thinking, and persistence. These traits will be essential to their success in their continued education, in their work, and as aware citizens on our fragile planet. To achieve these goals… Make every effort to be present and on time. Tardy students must have a pass and follow school policies (whether excused or not). Students leaving the room must have a pass and sign out/in. Limit time out; no passes in first/last 10 min. Cell phones may only be used with permission Expect regular homework of videos, notes, problem- solving, completing class activities, and reflection. Be honest, helpful, and respectful, and do all you can to create a supportive classroom community. Effort, organization, communication, and engagement are the keys to ensure success. Course Materials Required Materials The following items must be brought to class every day and be available at home: Pencils, pens (multi-colors are helpful) Charged chromebook with power cord
