Persuasive Speech I. Introduction a. Hook i. 8 months ago my grandmother had such horrible back pain that she couldn’t stand for longer than 15 minutes at a time. The first doctor we went to said that she would have to surgery that was going to incapacitate her for 6 months. However, we did a little bit of research and stumbled across something called the McKenzie Method, which is a non-surgical alternative for back pain. b. Central Idea i. That the McKenzie Method is a legitimate alternative to surgery for back pain c. Specific Purpose i. To persuade people that they should try the McKenzie Method first, before consenting to surgery. d. Main Points i. Definition and Description of McKenzie Method ii. The method itself iii. Compare to surgery e. Transition i. To begin let me first explain what the McKenzie Method is, in case any of you are unfamiliar with it. II. Definition and Description a. A physical therapist named Robin McKenzie from New Zealand is the founder of the McKenzie Method. b.
