1 Some useful Minitab Commands BUAD 310 Yingying Fan Reading in a Minitab file To import a data file: 1) Use File Open Worksheet . Histogram plot To draw a histogram of a quantitative variable: 1) Use Graph > Histogram . 2) In the dialog box, specify under X a column containing the raw data for a quantitative variable. Scatterplot To draw a scatterplot : 1) Use Graph > Plot . 2) In the dialog box, specify the columns containing the data for Y (the response variable) and X (the explanatory variable). Matrix plot To draw a matrix plot : 1) Use Graph > Matrix Plot . Correlation To calculate a correlation matrix: 1) Use Stat > Basic Statistics > Correlation . 2) Specify columns as the Variables . 3) Click OK . Transform your data To transform your data: 1) Use Calc > Calculator . Example: Suppose that you want to transform data column C5 by C5 500 . That is, you’d like to add 500 to each entry of C5, and then take the square root. Use C alc Cal culator . On the resulting panel you will see Store result in variable . Provide an unused column number.
