Choose a specific image (natural images work well such as animal/bird, water, sun/moon, etc.) or theme (love, death, wisdom, desire, regret, etc.) and trace its presence in at least 3 poems from this week’s reading. Offer comparisons and contrasts related to how the image or theme is presented in each of the poems . I chose a fish as my specific image and I chose to read The Fish by Elizabeth Bishop, You’re by Sylvia Plath and Mirror Sylvia Plath. The Fish poem talks about a real fish being caught in the water and what it looked like and even the feelings that it might have had. I liked this poem because it made me think about when you going fishing you are taking a life. I’m guessing that most fishers do not take into consideration the feelings of the fish, or even think twice about keeping it. But this poem was different in the fact that at the end the fish was released back into the water.
