Appendix B Using Equation Editor and MyMathLab ® Equation Editor, an application in Microsoft ® Word, allows you to type mathematical expressions and equations when using Word and other Microsoft ® applications. MyMathLab ® is a user-friendly program that you will use to complete many of your CheckPoints and assignments. You can access MyMathLab ® through your aXcess page. Equation Editor From time to time you may be asked to write an equation that involves symbols not normally provided in Microsoft ® Word. You may choose to use Equation Editor to help format your equations a little better. Familiarize yourself with Equation Editor by navigating the Equation Editor tutorial Web site. Click here to access the tutorial Web site. Caution: Equations created with Equation Editor do not transfer well to classroom posts. To alleviate this problem you may submit your equations as attachments. Use Equation Editor for assignment problems that require you to enter an equation or expression in an appendix. Using MyMathLab ® MyMathLab ® allows you to submit your work in an easy-to-use Web-based application. University administrators have carefully selected problem sets that align with the goals and objectives for this course. MyMathLab ® is the platform on which you will complete these problem sets and take quizzes and tests. MyMathLab ® provides instant feedback, tutorials, animations, and extra practice problems to help solidify learning and avoid misconceptions. Install the Math XL player and media plugins. To begin the installation, click the MyMathLab ® link on your aXcess page under the Week One materials section. Your personal MyMathLab ® homepage will appear. In the welcome message at the top of the page is a link to access the Installation Wizard. Follow the installation directions. Should you need technical assistance, please contact the online technical support found on your Axia College student Web site. Take the MyMathLab ® Tutorial to learn how to enter your answers in MyMathLab ® . After you have accessed the MyMathLab ® homepage, click how to enter answers in the welcome message. Select the bulleted item Take an online tour of How to Enter Answers Using the MathXL Player and click the associated link. This tutorial will show you how easy it is to enter answers to a variety of math problems. MyMathLab ® Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I access MyMathLab ® ? A: You can only access MyMathLab ® through your aXcess page. Click any week. Under the materials section, click Access MyMathLab ® . Q: When I submit work using MyMathLab ® , do I also need to submit it to any of the classroom forums? A: No. You only need to complete the work in MyMathLab ® . By accessing MyMathLab ® through the aXcess page, all your personal information (IRN, name, course, instructor’s name) is passed to your own student page in MyMathLab ® . Your instructor can access MyMathLab ® and check your assignment scores.
