Week 4 Discussion Question 1 In our society, there are weight loss programs that recommend low fat, no-fat,  or high protein diets.  Should we eliminate fats from our diets altogether and increase proteins?  Explain your answer. What are some of the benefits that unsaturated fats and proteins provide when  included in a balanced diet?  Explain your answer. According to our text eliminating fats totally out of our diets is unhealthy. Practically all foods have some kind of saturated or unsaturated fat. Besides the obvious meats, fruits and vegetables that have fat in them, anything that has protein in it such as peanut butter contains fat. In fact very little protein is fat-free, so increasing proteins and eliminating fat from the diet would be nearly impossible, unless only plants are consumed, which are not the best source of proteins available.
