CHEMISTRY 2212 Spring 2010 Instructor: Dr. Richard Morrison Office: Chemistry 604 email: [email protected] Office Hours: MWF 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Phone: (706) 542-5892 Lectures: (50-744) MWF 10:10 – 11:00 a.m. Room: Chemistry 430 (70-745) TR 5:00 6:15 p.m. Room: Chemistry 430 Textbook: Organic Chemistry by John McMurry (7e, 2007) Personal Response System by InterWrite (required) Recommended: Study Guide and Solutions Manual for McMurry’s Organic Chemistry (7e) Molecular Model Set (The Molymod by Indigo Instruments, 3rd floor stockroom) Spartan Molecular Modeling software available in the Chemistry Learning Center Attendance: You are required to be in attendance at all lectures. CHEM 2212 is a rigorous and fast- paced course. Absences will seriously affect your grade. Assigned Problems : To be successful in CHEM 2212 you must routinely work all of the in-chapter problems and the even numbered end-of-chapter problems. You will be more successful if you work a few problems daily rather than all of the problems immediately prior to the exam. Use the solutions manual only after you have thoughtfully and carefully considered your classroom and textbook discussions. If you experience difficulty solving the assigned problems you should work similar unassigned problems. Hour Exams : Four exams, each worth 100 points, will be given Wednesday nights from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on the following dates. Room assignments will be announced. Wednesday February 03, 2010 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m . Wednesday March 03, 2010 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
