Dr. Campbell Writing Workshop Reading Response #4 Reading Response People go to school to learn, right? That’s what I’ve always been taught; listen to the teacher, they know what they are talking about. Freire argues that this creates a feeling of inferiority for the students. He believes that because we as a society give so much power to our teachers that we are actually hurting our children in the long run. That they are just becoming machines filled with information, instead of people with actual inflection. I disagree with this statement because it is the students’ job to gain information from a teacher, but it is not the job of the teacher to teach the students what value the information holds, that is left up to the students to decide for themselves. Freire argues that because we take the empty vessel approach to teaching that people only learn the information on as it is presented. That being, for the sole purpose of being able to memorize and regurgitate what is taught in the classroom.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
