ELECTORAL COLLEGE ESSAYElectoral CollegeThe Electoral College over the course of history and still ongoing is a very problematic system that our country can never seem to agree on. It is a system that throughout the years has seen its trials and has still has its issues but continues to be in use for the presidential elections. The main purpose of the college is to go through the process and help in the decision of who is the next elected President of the United States. How and When was it Created?The system of the Electoral College within the Constitution was established in 1787 and it was created by our original seven founding fathers because the process before was decided through the Constitutional Convention, and they felt that something fairer needed to be put into place. They debated on several methods and came to the conclusion based on the Committee of Eleven on Postponed Matters that the Electoral College process met the standards they hoped to meet to have a successful form of electing a President of the United States (How the Electoral College System Works, 2017). Why was it Created?The main reason that the Electoral College was created was to make sure that not only thegovernment, but people would be involved in the election process. Before the Electoral College was created issues came to surface where people felt that the current situation, they were in was unfair to the citizens. In the final design created of the College, the method “…was perhaps thebest deal the delegates felt they could get — seemingly the only one on which a consensus could be formed…” (How the Electoral College System Works, 2017).
