JiYun Kang PSCY 10H Feb. 09. 2009 Cognitive Essay I have chosen Ryan, an eleven year old boy, who has been raised from a descent family as an object for my assessment of concrete operation. Although it took me quite a long time to convince him as to why and what he must do. He has never done such experiment so far, hence he is new to any of stimulus that this assessment involves. He maintains fairly excellent grades in every subject he is taking at school which reflects his academic competence that implies the level of his intelligence. The very first experiment I executed was to take a bit of clay and roll it into a ball. Next, I take another chunk of clay of same size and elongate it to make it look like a banana. With both clays in each hand, I asked Ryan which one had more clay. Ryan hesitated for few seconds, attempting to touch them for better analysis, but I kept him from doing so. Realizing it was a special experiment, Ryan answered that they must have same amount of clay due to his intuition that the answer should not be as obvious as it
