Nursing Informatics in Healthcare
Nursing Informatics (NI) is the "science and practice that integrates nursing, its
information and knowledge, with management of information and communication technologies
to promote the health of people, families, and communities worldwide"("Information and
Communication Technology: Design, Delivery, and Outcomes from a Nursing Informatics Boot
Camp", 2020).
NI is considered a specialty area within nursing, the role of nursing informatics is
to incorporate information technologies to help care for patients, use as educational preparation
or healthcare facilities in nursing.
Nurse Informaticists and Other Health Care Organizations
Nursing Informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer and
information science to provide data communication management, knowledge and nursing work
(Darvish, Bahramnezhad, Keyhanian & Navidhamidi, 2014). The use of technology is vital in the
healthcare system today. Technology is used in the leadership role to deign and develop data that
can be used for evaluation. Nursing leaders usually develop timeline and structure of the process
needed to meet goal. The use of the eMAR is needed to improve on patient care and the effects
of it.
