“My name is Christopher John Francis Boone. I know all the countries of the world and their capital cities and every prime number up to 7,507” (Haddon 2). Christopher Boone is a young teenager with Asperger’s, which is a type of autism. He has significant problems with social interactions, and he has repetitive and restrictive patterns of behaviors. He doesn’t understand people and emotions all that well, but his intellectual comprehensions are off the chart. One day, Christopher finds his neighbor’s dog lying dead in her yard. It is impaled by a garden fork, so he knows it was obviously a homicide. Christopher decides he is going to try to solve the murder mystery, for he loves dogs and mysteries. This investigation brings him on a wild adventure where he experiences and uncovers many things he never thought would be possible. Author Mark Haddon uses style to convey the theme of logic versus emotion using items such as imagery and figurative language in his eye- opening novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time . First of all, the style of this piece of literature is shown really well through the use of imagery.
