What is Advocacy in Nursing?•Advocacy is defined as the support or defense of a cause and the act of leading on behalf of another person. It is focused on addressing problems or issues in need or a solution, (FNA, n.d.).•Nurses can collaborate with other health professionals and the public to promote community, national, and international efforts to meet health needs. This is the way nurses advocate for the nursing profession and professional standards of practice, (FNA, n.d.).
Florida Nurses Association•The Florida Nurses Association is the only nursing organization representing ALL of nursing regardless of specialty or practice area and they are a strong voice for the nurses of Florida fueled by the strength and commitment of the professional nurses who comprise this membership, (FNA, n.d.). •The members of the FNA staff are committed to assisting leaders and members in implementing the goals and priorities of the Association as well as serving as a resource to nurses and nursing students, (FNA, n.d.).
