Psychology lecture 8/23/07 Introduction to Psychology- see SG (What) Descriptive knowledge- words we use to describe people, ourselves, personal qualities. (Why) Explanatory knowledge- allows us to explain/interpret why people are acting a certain way. Same behavior is motivated by different reason. (How) Prognostic knowledge- if I do something, other people will do this. You have to find the right way to talk about certain things to be effective. “The whole of science is nothing more than refinement of everyday thinking.” AE “The biggest problem of making internal maps is not that we have to start from scratch, but that if our maps are to be accurate we have to continually revise them.” – We have to modify our already set maps which is harder than starting over Experience - pay attention to what is happening around you, don’t worry about the past or the future; pay attention to what is happening now. Focus on one thing at a time and reflect on your purpose in life. What does life mean to me?
