Psychology 9/20/07 What is the foucs of cognitive perspective on psychology? -Focus on how we encode, process, store, and retrieve information. - Someone working form a cognitive perspective might study how our interpretation of a situation affects our anger and how our anger affects our thinking. Video: Perception One man hit the other, one man thinks he didn’t hit him. One man was worried about the cat. Each one is convinced that what he thinks is reality. We see with the eye but we perceive with our brain. We see things not as they are but as we are. We see and hear selectively. We understand what we see in a different because of our knowledge. Sensation- the process by which our sensory receptors and nervous system receive and represent stimulus energies from our environment. Perception- The process of organizing and interpreting sensory information, enabling us to recognize meaningful objects and events. Map of realitry:
