Jordan Dawson Learning Objective #26 I 100% agree with Rubin that a lot of funding decisions are based on who you know, how deep your pockets are, and what political party you represent. It is the sad reality we live in and we see this type of funding allocation every year. I keep referring back to The Bridge to Nowhere in a lot of my papers because that is a prime example of wasteful and irresponsible spending. Millions of dollars were approved for Alaska to build a bridge connecting a small island to the main land for no true reason why besides a few tourists were complaining about the long ferry wait times, but none of the residents actually wanted a bridge installed. They enjoyed how their current mode of transportation across the sea was working and didn’t see a need in this multiple million-dollar bridge. They were completely opposed to it, but a representative had their own personal agenda and had the connections within Congress to get this passed. Some feel like he only requested this funding because he could and knew he would get it. That money
