In today’s age, technology is a major part of everyday life. Its purpose is to make our lives easier. For the most part, it is very successful at doing so. In the health care field, the main benefit of using big data is communication. With all of the patient's information on a server, all healthcare providers have access to it. This allows for fluidity in continuity of care. The use of big data influences best practice and allows for individualization of care (Jones, L. K., Pulk, R., Gionfriddo, M. R., Evans, M. A., & Parry, D. 2018). A second benefit of big data in the healthcare field is that it allows for monitoring of prescription narcotics. With all of the patient's previous prescriptions in the system, providers are able to see how often patients are requesting prescriptions and from how many providers. Digitalization of pharmacies allows for better monitoring of prescriptions, reducing the risks of duplicate medication, conflicting medications, and over prescription of narcotics, leading to addiction (Baldwin, J.
