Running head: HEALTHCARE STAKEHOLDERSIn order to assess the characteristics of the medical care culture that encourages the high-technology solutions to preventable problems, this answer will focus on two major stakeholders in the healthcare industry: the patient and the provider. The modern world is run by technology, we see new technological advances released every year. The modern American consumer is rather dependent on being assisted in their life by that technology. Therefore, it would make sense that being a consumer of the healthcare industry one would expect no less than high-tech medicine approach for their treatment. Lastly, this paper will address why there is much resistance to single payer healthcare system. This country has a very big market of health insurance corporations, they all play a roll in influencing political decisions through lobbying. To understand why patients and providers turn to technology solutions let’s look at an example. In our time, the most common preventable disease is Diabetes Type II. According to CDC, a whooping number of 30 million Americans, that’s 1 out of 10 people, have diabetes out of which 90-95% of those people have Type II. Most of the causes of this disease are preventable. According to CDC, the two most preventable risks for a person to develop diabetes include being overweight and “being physically active less than 3 times a week” (CDC, 2019). Because of the lifestyle of most Americans, the medical field is not focused on preventing this as much as it’s focused on treating it. In resent years there have been advances in technology to support lives of people with Diabetes. Sometimes for people it is much easier to treat an acquiredsituation than to change the way they go about their life, change their lifestyle. The amount of people that are affected by Diabetes is what drives organizations like Diabetes Technology Society and American Diabetes Association. The Diabetes Technology Society is a nonprofit organization which dedicates itself to promoting and developing technology to fight diabetes.
