Listening, reading, videos, and classroom (online) discussion will be stressed. Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: Aurally identify certain popular rock and roll songs as well as other popular music. Describe the evolution of popular music and its practitioners from early roots (blues, ragtime, and jazz) through the early 2000s. Describe and define the eras of rock and roll and other popular music. Aurally recognize and describe elements of rock and roll and other popular music. Identify instruments used in rock and roll and other popular music. Describe the social and cultural significance of popular music.
