From the title “I lost my talk” I learn that this poem has to do with the poem facing something that interfered with language Identify and explain poetic devices in the poem. Metaphor: the poet compares today and tomorrow. Anecdote: he uses a personal reflection Repetition: he repeats the same sentences in a new order. He begins and ends the poem with the same line. Metaphor: she talks about her past self Simile: she compares herself to the people who took away her culture Anecdote: uses a personal story Repetition: when she says all the parts of her culture, they took away from her. Stated facts: she uses the name of the residential school How are the words arranged? What is the effect on the reader? It is a verse with no rhyme scheme. He also uses punctuation to add effect to how the person interprets the poem.
