Memo To: Denise Young, Professor, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University From: Joel Hutchens, Student Date: September 25, 2007 Subject: Goals for this Semester I have always had trouble organizing my ideas into a proper paper to deliver a great product. My mind is moving so fast that I can’t keep up with it. This causes me to use incorrect grammar and makes my paper seem very scatterbrained. By the end of this semester I would like to earn at least an A- on a major paper. To reach this goal I will: 1. Make better use of pre-writing techniques to help with organization 2. Walk over to the writing center on campus to get insight and perspective on my papers 3. Get familiar with the Dodds Handbook To track my progress I will keep a record in my Comm. Folder with all my scores on writing assignments. One way to measure my progress is by talking with my advisor, teacher or someone at the writing center while getting help with my paper. Their feedback and my grades will let me know the results of my work. In class one of my problems is paying attention. I have improved already this year but
