Name: Course: CWV-101 Date: 2/16/2020 Instructor: Benchmark - Gospel Essentials Introduction “A worldview is a commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in a set of presuppositions that we hold about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the foundation on which we live and move and have our being” (Sire, 2009, pg. 20). Christianity is the most-practiced religion around the entire world. Christianity is the foundation of other religions, such as Orthodox Christians, Catholic Christians, and Protestant Christians. While the Christian worldview has a wide range of different religions that branched off from Christianity, all of them can still agree on certain aspects that each religion was based on. In short, all Christians firmly believe that God is the Creator of everything, including humanity, who were created in God’s likeness to pursue His purpose, that Jesus is Christ, the Son of God, and lastly, that their faith can will restore their relationship with God and Jesus. God To Christians, God is a sovereign Creator, meaning that he is independent, free, or self- governing. Although this is his primary attribute, he has many others that are important to Christians as well. A few other attributes of God are all-knowing, all-present, and eternal (Diffey, 2015, para 11). He is all-knowing because within Him you can seek wisdom, and he is all- 1

present because He is with his people no matter where we go in our daily lives, even though he is physically invisible, spiritually he is visible. He is eternal, meaning everlasting. He will be here for the generations to come and he will ultimately never die. God also has personal attributes, with some being just, loving, and faithful (Diffey, 2015, para 11). He is fair to his people and God is always loving and faithful to his people as well. God is a triune God, meaning that He is one God, who is three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit (“Topic 2 Overview,” 2017). Ultimately, God created the Earth so that He could then create humanity, who He created in His image that obtain His attributes as well. Humanity “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them (Genesis 1:27, ESV). Humanity was created in God’s image, including his attributes, however, none of humanity is even close to perfect. Humanity is the pinnacle of God’s creation, who He created to know and worship Him, to be like Him and have a relationship with Him, and to have dominion over His kingdom (Diffey, 2015, para 31). After the fall, it is inevitable, for all humanity is forever sinful, humanities new reality. No matter how hard God tried to command and tell His people to change their ways of disobedience and destruction, they still would not listen (“Topic 3 Overview,” 2017). Instead of giving up, God
