Are the poor and wealthy equally concerned about the “freedom from fear”? After reading and analyzing both former President Barack Obama’s “Welcoming Remarks” speech and former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s “Four Freedoms” speech, you can easily see that the idea of “freedom from fear” has not changed over time. Both president’s main objectives are to even out the field of wealth and create better opportunities for all economic classes. In FDR’s speech, he is addressing the American public who are in fear of the war that is creeping up on them; these people who have finally started to recover in comfort from the draining of the Depression. In the Depression, these people experienced what happened during the crash of the economy, it wasn’t just reserved for the poor, rich and poor alike were affected. A majority of people during the late 1930s feared what would happen to them when the war came afoot. However, Roosevelt speaks to them saying, “The need of the moment is that our
