H English 12 1.2.9 Grendel Narrative Hannah Watts 2/04/2020 Most people would describe me as a “monstrous” or “horrid” being, but that is solely based on their community’s closed-minded way of thinking. I was born by a noble woman in town who did everything she possibly could for me. When I came into this world, I was a bit different; I did not have symmetrically placed eyes, I had less than ten fingers, and I had two extra kneecaps. My unique features resulted in other townspeople referring to me as “beastly” and, because I did not fit in, my family was cast-away to the outskirts of the swamps. One day when I was young, my father ventured into the town to get ingredients for our meal. His presence offended a townsman and they got into a dispute over my appearance, which resulted in his death. I will forever honor my father for what he had done, but as a result of his fatality my uncle Cain had to step-up and be the new man of the house.
