The Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP) is a program that is run by Medicare and focuseson value. This program reduces payments to hospitals with high readmission rates. The Affordable CareAct started this program and it went into effect Oct 1 2012. The program actually looks at 6 specificdiagnosis Heart attacks, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, pneumonia, and coronaryartery bypass graft surgery and hip or knee replacements. If these patients are covered by Medicare andhave an unplanned readmission within 30 days of the initial admission repayment is reduced. Thisprogram encourages hospitals to deliver quality care as well as good discharge care to avoid costlyreadmissions.When looking at the triple aim frame work, this program touches on all three. Although the program Ifeel is more directed towards experience of care that being the quality as well has per capita costs. TH
