Week #8 Journal - Gaga an improvisatory dance practiced...

This preview shows page 1 out of 1 page.

Gaga, an improvisatory dance practiced developed in Isreal, explores a spectrum of human expressions and both masculine and feminine movements. This is an utopic idea that emphasizes lived experience, internal forces, and intersectionality. Because women are celebrated in Israel, especially in the military, gender roles are not emphasized, so this dance form also does not focus on gender identity. However, in Gaga, there is a feminine focus relating to taking care of one’s body. There is also a slight perpetuation of gendered stereotypes with the prompt’s language and Nafary’s terminology. Also celebrating women, feminist porn allows women to own their bodies and sexuality while also allowing female viewers to see their own desires. Jewish humor was mentioned as moving beyond derogatory stereotypes; they make fun of themselves before others can.
