Unformatted text preview: s Purpose Purpose The purpose is to summarize a recent South Mountain Village Planning Committee meeting. Summary Summary Chairman George Young called the meeting to order. After a brief roll call, Jane Bixler of the Phoenix Planning Department gave a presentation on the importance of public spaces. Kris Kyllo then spoke on behalf of the City of Phoenix Housing Department’s request for proposals for the possible development of low-cost housing in the area. The third speaker listed on the agenda was not present at the meeting, so the committee moved on the next speaker Jason Allen. Mr. Allen sought to have property rezoned for single-family residential development. Next, Richard Thomson from American Heritage Homes presented a case for the rezoning of another property. The last speaker of the night was Dean Brennan from the Planning Department, who made a presentation on possibly applying the Sonoran Preserve Edge Treatment Guidelines across the valley. Finally, the meeting winded down with a discussion of the committees goals for the rest of the year. At about 9:30 p.m., the meeting was adjourned. Brief summary of the agenda: After the call to order and roll call, Mr. Young set time limits for the night’s presentations and responses from the staff and audience members.
