Overview (Java Platform SE 6) or http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/ When you hold the control key and the C key simultaneously to the above link, you will be sent to an API webpage which document API specifications for SE version 6. API stands for Application Programming Interface. It is the most useful documentation. Documentations for all classes and interfaces that are included in the standard Java are listed. On the left are the alphabetical list of the names of classes and interfaces (later on). It is very large. The Overview page provides a list of all packages with a summary for each package and each package has a page that contains a list of its classes and interface, with a summary for each. Click on the class name, it brings up its description, what it does and how it works. What and if any value it returns and what value it requires for each class. An API for a piece of software tells the programmer who uses the software how to use it. The API for a class is essentially the same thing as what we described as the
