Rosmic Calvo ACCT 257 CH. 1 HW 1. The Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) sets the minimum wage; the current minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. 2. Employers must maintain records about an employee’s regular hourly rate of pay, basis of wage payments, hours worked each day and week, daily or weekly straight time pay, weekly overtime pay, total additions to or deductions from wages, total remuneration for payroll period and for calendar year, date of payment, and payroll period. 3. Employees and employers pay social security taxes. 4. Funds provided by FUTA are used to pay state and federal administrative expenses of the unemployment program; funds provided by SUTA are used to pay unemployment benefits. 5. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, forbids employers to discriminate in hiring, firing, promoting, compensating, or in any other condition of employment on the basis of race, color, gender, or national origin. 6. The purpose of ADEA is to prohibit employers, employment agencies, and labor unions from discriminating on the basis of age in their employment practices. 7.
