Hello everyone, Here are my notes for Lecture 3. Today we explored staffing the organization. What is important to understand about this topic is that staffing must be done precisely with a focus on the right qualifications. Too many employers do this poorly. If you don’t get the right people in the door, it is unlikely you will get the work product you need to meet your goals, and you are spending money on salaries for no performance gain. That is really maddening when it is your money. Getting the right person into the right job at the right time doing the right things takes basically these three steps: 1. Recruiting the qualified people to apply. 2. Assessing the applicants with tools that truly reveal their level of qualifications. 3. Selecting the most qualified applicants. To know which applicants are qualified, you need to know a lot about the job you are trying to fill. As demonstrated today, you need to know the tasks involved in the job to understand what the qualifications are. You perform a job analysis to generate a job
