We want to "ground" yourself - become aware of what's going on, as a tool to kind of regain control of yourself The ground serves as our morality - it's Darwinian morality, eat or be eaten, you live life just to survive - being grounded When we stood up, and our brains grew, we were no longer tied to the ground as our morality, the chains had been loosened There was room for us to interpret and make choices We were now able to organize the world around us Create things - tools filled the vacuum that was left when we stood up One tool was language - in nature there is no such thing as negativity, there is only something, and lack of that something The only way the two dogs were able to play was to start fighting, then pull back Language gives us the ability to NEGATE things - you could talk about something without actually having the item When a person first stood up, he was able to point to things and say "this is me, this is not me" Next tool was vision Before we were down in the system, we could not see
