May 29, 2008 Readings: Chapters 43 - 45 Subjective : While I had heard of NOW before, I did not know much about what they believed or their attitudes towards various issues. I was also completely unfamiliar with the concept of radical feminism. With this in mind, I had no idea what to expect when we went to class and I found out who was presenting. Objective : Katie, Sharon, and Claire from the National Organization of Women presented to the class today. They discussed the history of their organization, the goals and aims of NOW, what radical feminism is, and went into some of their views on issues affecting women. Near the end of the class, the class got quite heated over the issue of abortion, with one of the students yelling “selfish” at the group. Assessment : I was very angry during several different parts of this class. On the point that women were not the problem with rape and that men are the source of the problem, I got very upset. I knew that I would never get involved in a rape and I felt that I was being
