1. How do you define quality of care? Quality of care occurs when the nurse provides consistent, compassionate, qualified care to the patient. The nurse is the advocate for the patient while they are admitted to the facility. (Sullivan, 2018, p. 76). 2. What factors can you control, as a manager, for your staff to provide high-quality care (which factors are internal and which are external)? The goal of the staff is to provide the patient with quality care during their stay. The internal factors that can affect the positive results of patient care are the organizational systems placed within the health care team. The nurses are given guidelines to follow. The framework for identifying mistakes within patient care are present. This allows the facility to identify issues in care, and to also address the tentative solutions to improve that same patient care. The external factors that affect quality of care are the patient’s expectations of the care that they will receive while in the facility.
