Paul Shapiro December 12, 2007 Intro To Music, Chapman Concert Report #2 Casual Harmony I went to see my friend Kevin Hill perform in his A Cappella group called Casual Harmony. All of the member performed very well, and maintained the correct pitch of their voices. The members performed a sampling of current pop music ranging from Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” to The Fray’s “Over My Head”. A Cappella is completely vocal, and lacking any instruments. Some of the members created an undertone for a soloist by beatboxing. By beatboxing they created and maintained the rhythm of the music. At times the members mimicked the sounds of other instruments and created a representative melody using those sounds. The music was mostly polyphonic and homophonic. The beatboxers and the singers created a harmony for the lead vocalist who sang the melody. The tempo varied by song to song from being slow to upbeat.
