Detrmining the ultimate load values : Weight of the slab (for beams): Let us consider 7 hollow block/m2,and the thickness of the slab of 30 cm, we can write: V(hordis/m 2 )=7*(0.4*0.2*0.24)=0.1344 m3/m2 V(concrete/m 2 )=0.3-0.1344=0.1656 m3/m2 Therefore the weight of the slab is :W(slab)=0.1344*1000+0.1656*2500=548.4 kg/m 2 . Weight of the slab (for ribs): Each rib must support all the surcharges and transmit them to the beams (5hollow blocks/m2),we can write : V(hordis/m 2 )=(1/0.57)*(5*0.4*0.2*0.24)=0.168 m3/m2 V(concrete/m 2 )=0.3-0.168=0.1315 m3/m2 Therefore the weight of the slab is :W(slab)=0.168*1000+0.1315*2500=497 kg/m2
