5 Valence-shell electron-pair repulsion (VSEPR) theory VSEPR is a theory for constructing molecular shapes from Lewis structures . In VSEPR: groups of electrons (bonds, lone pairs, or unpaired electrons) around a central atom are located as far apart from each other as possible, in order to minimize electron repulsions.
