Find the following terms in the book and define them briefly in your own words. Attach your answers on a separate sheet. shell Is a process that waits for the user to input commands to execute. script Is a file that contains a group of commands for the shell to read and execute. shell variable Are variables that interact with the commands in a script. process Is a program that is in an executing state. fork Is the action of a process to create another process. built - in command They are commands that are built in a shell. Because they are built into the shell, fork is not used to create them when they are run. 2. If your login shell is the Bourne shell, what system scripts are executed when you log in ? The system script that is run is the .profile. What if your login shell is the C shell ?
