LAB #9 (Week 9): Heart Rate and Blood Pressure Responses to Exercise, & the Submaximal Prediction of Maximum Oxygen Uptake PROCEDURES: 1) Watch the demonstration of one subject being attached to the electrocardiograph. Obtain one piece of the resultant trace each. Calculate the heart rate of the subject from your section of the ECG trace. 2) Follow the procedures described on pages 18-5 to 18-7 in the Kinesiology 142 Laboratory Manual for measuring blood pressure at rest when sitting. Record data in the table on the attached page. 3) Astrand Test plus blood pressure response to submaximal exercise – follow the procedures described on pages 18-14 and 18-15 in the Kinesiology 142 Laboratory Manual. Record data in the attached table. 4) Calculate your subject’s estimated maximum oxygen uptake from the Astrand Test using the attached table.
