9/29/09 Week behind in reading The Importance of Culture It has been removed from the debate, bc it is hard identify, by talking about culture we are not using inferiority or superiority We have to take the culturist approach, and take the real role of culture The Fourth wave of terrorism Fundamentalist Ideology o 9/11 and since then, bc until it hit home people really didn’t study it (only in Britain and Israel) they attack US to express their fundamentalist ideology Social networks o Force Multipliers and Mass Casualty Attacks Disregarding Geographic Boundaries o It was a multi-national organization (Al-Qaeda) the ones who attack on 9/11 where from different countries, when don’t’ have nationalism you have to look at different aspects The Hypothesis of the Cultural approach Suicide bombing is a product of a specific culture or religion o Before 1980 the people who perpetrated these acts religion was never mentioned, like religion is today
