UTL 202 – Lopez November 4, 2009 Sheri Hanslik 7 th Grade Texas History Lesson Plan #4 Reflection For my fourth lesson I had the students write letters to soldiers overseas in honor of Veteran’s Day. Before I had them write the letters, I had a slide show of pictures of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that I showed to them as a read a letter from a soldier aloud. I then brainstormed with the students about ideas that they may want to talk about in their letters. For what this lesson was, I thought it ended up being successful. I was actually shocked by how seriously the students took this activity. I went into lesson worrying about my second period class, which is all boys with the exception of four girls, because I was afraid of the boys goofing off. Instead, the boys really thought about what they were writing and seemed fairly moved by the lesson. I gave the students about 20-25 minutes to write their letters and if they did not finish them, they were allowed to continue to work on them at home. I was actually
