NEW CLASS OFFERING Environment and Dance Research Physical intelligence, sustainability and the environment- Interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and dance DANC 199/451 Instructor: Jennifer Monson M,W 9-10:30 DAB Classroom/Krannert Center DRR This interdisciplinary course will introduce students to issues of sustainability, concepts of nature and environmental research through the lens of choreographic thinking. Together we will invigorate and re-imagine relationships between public, urban, and rural environments through kinetic experiences. Coursework will include reading, discussion, feldwork, and a physical practice involving contemporary dance technique and somatic practices. The course will provide students with an opportunity for innovative approaches to interdisciplinary collaboration and research. Student projects may include perFormances, feldwork, experiments, installations, workshops, and restoration projects.
