Discuss the requirements that a self employed person or an employee must following in order to take a deduction for an "office in the home." Include in your discussion where these deductions would take place on an income tax return if you were self employed versus being an employee. Include any limitations that would be involved in obtaining this deduction. This discussion question is worth 10 points. A student will need to post a response to the question and also respond to a minimum of one classmate's post. Please use complete sentences in your post. If you use a portion of your home for business you might be able to deduct the associated cost. First, your home office area must be used regularly and exclusively for your business needs. Second, the business part of your home must be your primary place of business or where you meet and deal with clients or customers in the normal course of your business.
